The Effect of Flowers

Some things you know work, even if you don't understand why. Flowers work.

So after getting Snow Leopard at MacHaus and a book on Anchorage place names at Title Wave, I stopped by Evalyn's Flowers before coming home. It was rainy and I knew a little color in the house would go a long way.

Men, even if you don't know why, just bring home some flowers now and then. It's in your best interest. And try to support locally owned florists like Evalyn's. They'll notice that you were there, but Fred Meyer's won't.

  1. Uh, flowers remind me to a very funny story about my pollen allergy.

  2. You, Sir, are a prince!

I always buy vases for friends when they get married. 100% of the time, I get the thank you note from the husband even if he knows I don't like him! ;) They always promise to bring home flowers for their wives! And they do!

I get vases for my friends when they divorce to remind them to treat themselves to flowers. When friends are sick enough to be in the hospital, I pick up a vase at the thrift store and fill it with flowers and leave it at their houses after I have prearranged to make a week's worth of meals for their families when their husbands take the kids out and I just cook and clean.

My best friend gave me a Tiffany vase for my second wedding. It's a vahhhs, dahlink, for dahhhzies! I love it and paint it often.

Flowers say, "You are worth a little extra." But you know this.

Ropi, no doubt this story is quite funny. I would like to hear it.

  3. See what I mean? Tea didn't even get the flowers and they still make her silly. :)

  4. There's so much wrapped up in the meaning of flowers, isn't there? I know for me, certain flowers bring my memories of my mother back to me as if she were with me. I do stop to smell the 'roses'.

Perhaps flowers have that kind of power for love for many of us who are lucky enough.
