There were so many birds in the backyard this afternoon. After seeing flashes of yellow and a couple of red breasted nuthatches were flitting right outside the window, I took the Canon Powershot 550 out to see what I could get. It took me about 15 minutes of waiting and shooting to fill my 2 gb sd-card. Downloaded and checked that video and decided to go find the old tripod. Wow, what a difference. Duh. Then as soon as I sat down, the Steller Jay came.

ReplyDeleteI'll need to let big china see this and amazing the difference the tripod made! A lesson for all of us methinks!

ReplyDeletethanks for posting your csi stuff on veraci, too... make sure you keep reading!
Mirk, tech friend was explaining that with the digital video the more random the picture, the harder it is to capture. This came up when he saw some running water I videod. That is so random that the resolution to capture has to go way up. So I'm guessing that tiny and not so tiny movements of the hand held camera make capturing all the bits of information a little more random. When you use a tripod, everything stays pretty much still except the, say in this case, birds. As I look at the video, each time I moved the camera, it seems it has to refocus. Didn't have to do that with the tripod.
ReplyDeleteRE - Glad you like them. I live in Anchorage.
