US Senate: Guilty of Cowardice and Derelict of Duty

Article I

They wouldn't even let the camera show the faces of the Senators as they voted.

Article II

Romney voted for impeachment in Article I, but not in Article II.  So, for article I the vote was bi-partisan for impeachment and partisan for acquittal.

  1. Steve, so terribly sorry for this result. The only bit of good and I was actually a bit amazed in finding Mitt Romney's statement yesterday.

He spoke of that inner self we must live with, that voice that rattles our thoughts and actions if laid down by good parenting & growing to consider others. His dissent (I can hope) may pivot some ethically in his party. I know he will face hell for the 49pc approval ratings: 97pc among Republicans. It was courageous, at least.

On another note I really should share with your readers, a highly-influential advisor to our PM has expressed twin aims for both defunding the BBC and funding a Fox News network here in Britain.

As one analyst put it in the Guardian today, Fox News was a game-changer in American public discourse. I know, I know. I watched only a few minutes of Trump's state of the union and saw Rush Limbaugh given the Medal of Freedom; a moment so sad, so massively wrong. He is a brutal propagandist elevated to state hero. Worthy of Soviet era medal-chest thumping, really.

I knew far too many people in Anchorage those many years ago who listened to 'some guy called Rush' on AM radio and did so because 'he was fun'.

That so many Americans became proud 'dittoheads' was largely a result of the FCCC Fairness Doctrine being revoked during Reagan's presidency. Score that as an early hit of truth, facts and professional news-gathering. Rush was America's 'voice in the wilderness' for so many MAGA hat-wearing Republicans today.

Ok. I need to go watch some cute kitten videos for a bit.

  2. the correct headline would note that it was the Republican Senate who was guilty.

Speaking to that partisan headline thing.

  3. US Senate: Guilty of Cowardice and Derelict of Duty

AMEN on steroids! But the acquittal actually occured on December 13th, 2019 whem McCTuertlefartface stated there was no way the Senate would vote to remove drumpf from office.
