Nolan saw me Mac-ing - he couldn't get his Mac to connect to the wifi here. He ended up dropping his stuff here and we started talking. He's headed to music school outside of Sydney.
It is very nice that Americans have so many chance to study abroad. They are always warmly welcomed on any part os the Earth. In Hungary there are not as many chances to go so far like Australia although in EU area we can move freely but for a Hungarian the tuition fee means more than for an American.
Sad, but true. Wealth is not evenly distributed around the world. But Americans often tend to take their blessings for granted. There are always opportunities for good people who work hard and never give up. No matter where they are from. If you decide that you want to do something bad enough (within reason) there's a good chance you can pull it off. You never explained why you didn't take the opportunity to go to - was it Canada? - perhaps this comment explains why. But as I said, you have a place to stay if you come to Alaska. Just warn us so we can get a bed long enough for you.
Well, It was to the US, if you mean the scholarship. Well, I had good reason to refuse believe me. I was thinking a lot about it and I thought (I still think) that it would have done more harm than good. So I don't think I missed my great chance of my life. There was a long contract and it had some points which I wouldn't accept and I had no chance to make a compromise so I said no.
Well, I think reading contracts is important. I've not done anything with our local newspaper blogs because their contract for bloggers is so one-sided. There will be other opportunities for you. Just don't find yourself turning 50 and having been so careful or otherwise occupied that you never did anything really interesting but a little risky.

ReplyDeleteWell, don't worry Steve, sometimes I can do the least expectable things.
