In other words, they would like me to understand they reserve for themselves the sole right to do so and I can go bugger off were I to even begin to think I might have any kind of equal standing.

It's exactly as what we've come to expect from your everyday corporate lawyer type. Bluster and bullshit cloaked in legalese.Anonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-30897652.post-88628248370327953812013-03-14T04:45:59.529-08:002013-03-14T04:45:59.529-08:00Wonderful!

We were told we had to buy insurance and here was the form to sign, the "agreement". My nephew read it -- it took 5 long minutes. "It says here that insurance is NOT mandatory." And the clerk said, yeh, well, not really. So we didn't buy it.Barbara Carlsonhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/05463074148195784152noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-30897652.post-36267255128623286092013-03-13T16:38:49.766-08:002013-03-13T16:38:49.766-08:00I've taken to appending similar 'terms'...I've taken to appending similar 'terms', 'conditions', and 'disclaimers' to all of my private and personal official communications with corporate entities of all kinds, it's hilarious to see that often times, some corporate lawyer has been spun up into action to respond. Cracks me up every time.

One small and probably quite insignificant step in standing up to the corporate over-reach, ....but, a step nonetheless.Anonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-30897652.post-25231722799312468272013-03-13T15:20:56.649-08:002013-03-13T15:20:56.649-08:00Anon - Yes, I agree totally about the banking agre...Anon - Yes, I agree totally about the banking agreements, particularly credit cards, but this one is by far the longest. There are two issues here:
1. The total push way way beyond any semblance of reasonableness as lawyers put every possible thing into these agreements. They end up with documents that no one reads and there is no real informed consent.
2. The actual content and what people unknowingly agree to.

I flagged this one because I actually do read, or at least scan, most agreements before I click OK and this one was so ridiculously long that I had to post about it. And all these kinds of agreements which almost no reads before clicking ok have to become void.

The alternative is that all rights of consumers are stolen through these agreements.
