Swedish Tea Ring and Beautiful Cat

We went to friends for a Christmas morning breakfast.  The waffles were good, but the homemade Swedish Tea Ring was superb.  A family recipe she makes once a year.

Last night our host had dogs, a whole sled team worth. But this morning it was cats. I'm much more a cat person. I like an animal that doesn't need me, that's got a life of its own, and whose attention I have to deserve.

  1. Opening the great debate on cats and dogs, are you? I'll bite. Grew up with dogs and cats and like 'em both. Adjust one's view of the world (as they each tend to see it) and all is well... lots of good memories, so many good memories.

Wishing you and yours good health and good times in the coming year!

  2. That is a gorgeous cat.

In So Cal, our family would share Christmas with a family where the mom would make this kind of tea ring with icing from the time I was 5 until they divorced at my age 16. That divorce was devastating to me, but we still remained friends with the women of that family. (The father cheated with his secretary.)

My mom makes the tea ring from the friend's recipe instead, and we have it for Christmas and for New Year's Day.

  3. Jay, Right, that's me starting a dog-cat fight; neither is better or worse, it just depends on your personality. I like most animals, but cats make you work harder, and I guess I was brought up to believe that things that come easy aren't worth as much.

    Ropi, it was.

NSWFM - The icing is in the bowl in the lower left. I'm always fascinated by how our brains link foods (or music or animals) to specific people and events. Thanks for making those connections.
